The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, said the U-turn made by lawful symbol, Mr Femi Falana, advocated Federal Government’s position that the foundation of the activity of “Amotekun” was illicit.
An announcement gave on Thursday by Dr Umar Gwandu, Malami’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations, repeated that Nigeria’s constitution doesn’t suit development of local security design.
Falana, human rights legal counselor, who prior requested that the governors overlook Malami, had requested that Southwest governors authorize laws on Amotekun.
The announcement read: “By soliciting state governments from the Southwestern Nigeria to “continue to institute the essential laws”, in advocating the lawfulness of the foundation and activity of Amotekun, Falana is reaffirming national government’s position that the foundation of the activity as of now is unlawful.
“No measure of exertion to conceal reality will work. Individuals can be diverted by wistful or passionate tendencies, yet truth remains evidently substantial.
“Most importantly the present Nigerian constitution don’t oblige arrangement of local security design. This is a reality which is undisputable and irrefutable
“Falana is equivocating and circumlocuting utilizing sly procedures when he was asked by the media to legitimize the nearness of lacuna inside the law which can build up or ensure the idea of regionalism in any activity in the nation.

The reaction came 24 hours after national pioneer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, said Amotekun was not a danger to national solidarity.
Amotekun, an activity of Southwest Governors, was first proclaimed unlawful last Tuesday.
